Dear Pastor,
We have also have researched various Bible versions and the history of Bible versions extensively and have come
to a very different conclusion than you have.
We personally own, and have within easy access
on our bookshelves at home, over 50 different Bible versions (there are literally hundreds of different versions
available), so we know what we are talking about when we tell you they do not all say the same thing.
Why would we be so passionate on this subject? Because
we both should be dead, but we’re not. We are only alive for the following reasons—to win souls, make disciples,
contend for the faith, and lead God’s people to the freedom we have found in Christ.
And what makes free? The Truth. And we have not
found consistent truth in any of the 50 some odd versions we have collected so far—with the exception
of the King James Bible.
The source material that both the Old and New Testaments
of the King James Bible are translated from has been proven throughout the centuries (by many evidences) to be reliable
and fruit-bearing.
Not only do we see the fruit of it historically (and
in our own lives as well), but we believe in God’s promise that his word will be available uncorrupted to every
generation.
If we choose to believe current scholarship, we would
have to admit that we haven’t had the Word of God in a reliable form until a little over a hundred years ago--when
people got smarter and honed textual criticism to a fine art... and we know that is simply not true.
Sincerely Butch &
Jocelyn
